Web Statistics – June 2008

923 Page View
Page Views - The number of full page views within a given time frame, which represents the number of times a visitor requests a page from your server. A page view differs from a daily unique in that a visitor can register unlimited page views per day, but only one daily unique in one day, no matter how many pages are viewed. This number is the count of full page views, unlike log analyzers. For example, a web page with five images counts as one page view in our product, but may count as 6 'hits' in a log analyzer.

659 Unique Visitors
Visitor - Also referred to as a 'Unique Visitor' or a 'Daily Unique Visitor', this value represents a visitor that comes to your site for the first time in a day. All subsequent visits during the day by the visitor are not considered unique. This differs from a page view in that a single visitor can have one visit per day but many page views during a visit.

500 Monthly Uniques
Monthly Unique Visitor - A visitor that comes to your site for the first time during a calendar month. All subsequent visits during the month by the visitor are not considered a monthly unique visit.

479 New Visitors
New Visitor - A visitor that comes to your site for the first time ever. All subsequent visits or page views by the visitor are not considered an all-time unique visit.

Google Search on Memoirs of Dr Cabokia

Feeling bored, I did a Google search on my blog title. I was pretty surprised with my search results. Other than links on friend’s blog, I found my blog being mentioned/referenced in the following web sites:

I have been going through my Live Traffic Feed, and I discovered something interesting. The two most popular blog posts are:

  1. My tooth is dying

  2. Simplest Recipe for ORAL REHYDRATION SOLUTION

The above posts were read almost every week.

The second blog post was from my Mum, which she extracted from Time Magazine. It’s really popular indeed – Thanks, Ma.

Actually, I was supposed to write about the resurrection of my tooth after my post on the song, “All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.” I just haven’t got the inspiration to write it yet…so many other current interesting things to blog. I was also very busy with my work then. I must write about my teeth one of these days.

Last month, I registered myself with HitsLink – providing Website statistics, web analytics, hit counter. From 9 May to 31 May 2008, these are the statistics for my blog:

  • 563 Page Views

  • 393 Daily Unique Visitors

  • 271 Monthly Unique Visitors

The weekly statistic showed that there are more than 100 unique visitors a week. The highest so far is 137.

I believed that my results are nothing significant as compared to other blogs. For me, it is interesting to find out – nothing much to be proud of. I feel happy with the statistics, and excited that my blog posts can reach the whole world. Yes, I do hope to bless people from all nations.

Glory to God!

TagBoard Message Board

Finally, I have my own TagBoard. I'm happy that I'm able to set it up on my own. (Well...others had consultation :p). It took me almost the whole day trying to fix the error - there was a huge blank space before my TagBoard. What was the problem? It was caused by 4 characters: <ul>. Only 4 characters!!!! This is so irritating, right? That 4 characters have caused such a big problem. I should have deleted that line ages ago to ease my pain. *sigh*

Actually, this is not the first time I had to debug a code. As a lecturer who teaches programming, I have been doing debugging for the last 11 years. Even a single semicolon (;) can generate tonnes of errors. So, the nuisance that the 4 characters created is no surprise. Four is nothing compared to one semicolon. Well...it was a good learning experience - No pain, no gain.

Feel free to tag a message. Please don't waste my effort, ya? :p

Motivation to Blog

I must give credit to my hubby Seng Chor for motivating me to blog. Well...he didn't actually motivate me but I was surprised that he started blogging before me. I was really amazed after reading his blog yesterday. He could actually write quite well. So, I must keep up with him and start my own blog as well. Kenny gave me the final push to set it up yesterday.

I have a personal journal on my notebook and PDA as well. I used to buy diary/journal and write almost everyday. Now, I prefer to use the computer because for some reasons my handwriting has become more and more 'lousy'.

I learned about journalling from my mother. She writes everything - from the weather to the meals she cooks. I am very grateful that she helped me to journal during the birth of Jordan. She even wrote down what the confinement lady cooked for me. She's simply superb! I have introduced her to blogging. Maybe she will start one soon. :)
