N.O.W = No Other Way

The KBU Christian Fellowship is proud to have organized the N.O.W. concert at the KBU Multi-Purpose Hall on Saturday, 6 December 2008.

Preparations and concert practice started after August/September. The band members practiced twice a week – Tuesday and Friday at FGA Kepong. Thank God for the use of the venue and the equipment. God has done an amazing thing with the band members and the CF overall. It was the first evangelistic concert by the CF. It was a step of faith. God has seen the faithfulness in each of the member. I believed that they would remember this significant event forever, and continue to reflect upon the goodness of God.

I have uploaded eight videos of the concert into my YouTube account. Click this link - Amazing Grace to view my personal favourite. The video is also embedded in my precious blog post. When I first heard the song sang by Sarah during one of the concert practices, I had goose bumps. I experienced the same thing on the night of the concert. Sarah’s voice was really beautiful. It touched my heart and I felt the presence of God. Yoke Kheng shared that she had tears in her eyes. She recalled how the CF started with a very small number at the beginning of the year, and how God has brought the students in, and used them to organize this concert. It is really awesome. Only God could do the impossible. With God, everything is possible. God has united the team and strengthen their faith.

Though the crowd was out of our expectation (and it rained), I have learned to give thanks to God no matter what the circumstances and outcomes are. There were a few good responses from the feedback. God knows our limit and our ability.

I would like to share this thought by one of my Growth Group members:

“I have come to acknowledge that Expectation can have both positive and negative aspects. We need to embrace the positive aspect of Expectation and discard the negative aspect. This is because positive Expectation helps us to stay focus on God and nurture our prayer life. Negative aspect of Expectation mainly is a fruit of our own flesh and manifests itself in terms of disappointment, discouragement, self pity, etc. when things do not happen according to 'our' ways.

I believe when our Lord Jesus taught us to pray 'Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven', there is the positive element of healthy expectation.

When it comes to reaching out to the lost, I believe the Lord is more eager than we could ever imagine to bless us. We just need to stay in tune with His Spirit and Expect great things to happen.”

Yes, it is okay to have big expectations. The important thing is to remain faithful and believe God. The KBU Christian Fellowship has sown the seeds of salvation. We commit the people to God, and continue to trust God to work in their lives. God is marvelous, amazing, awesome, wonderful, and mighty to save!

KBU CF Concert 2008

Thank God for the KBU Christian Fellowship. God has blessed us tremendously. God is faithful. He has enabled us to reach out to many students through this work. We desire to do more, and we have taken a step of faith to organise this concert. We believed that God will do amazing things through this concert.

The band was formed about 3 months ago, and they have been practising twice a week. We have also managed to book the PA system and musical instruments. Amazingly, this person is actually one of our students in the BEng (Hons) EEE Year 3. He assists his father to run the business to rent sound system and musical instruments. Thank God that he has quoted a very good price for us. Thank God for the funds (love gift) that we have received so far. Thank God that we have also got a very good speaker from Eagle Point Covenant Fellowship.

This work does not belong to us but belong to God. We acknowledged that God is the one who has initiated this and put the desires in our heart.

The details of the concert are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 6 December 2008
Time: 7 pm to 10:30 pm
Venue: KBU Multipurpose Hall
FREE Admission

The theme of the concert is "N.O.W" (No Other Way).
We felt convicted by the verse:
2 Corinthians 6:2 –

For he says,
"In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you."

I tell you,

NOW is the time of God's favor,

NOW is the day of salvation.

Furthermore, God has reminded us few times during the CF that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Indeed, there is no other way but through Jesus.

All glory, praise and honour to our Almighty God!

Passion World Tour

THE PASSION MOVEMENT IS CIRCLING THE GLOBE, UNITING A WAVE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO ARE LIVING TO MAKE JESUS FAMOUS IN THIS GENERATION. IT’S ALL ABOUT HIS NAME AND FINDING YOUR PLACE IN A STORY SO MUCH BIGGER THAN YOUR OWN.

How was it? It was AMAZING, AWESOME, WOW!

With the help of Yoke Kheng, I managed to arrange 2 cars (Kevin and Yung Ling) for the KBU students. We met at Centerpoint at 3:30 pm together with the rest of the Antioch Network Community youth and KDU students. The event started at 6 pm.

Kevin picked me up from the house at around 3:25 pm. Jordan was still sleeping. I asked my brother to watch over him until Seng Chor returned from his training.

We arrived at the Sunway Convention Centre before 4:30 pm. It took us almost half an hour to find a parking space. We reached the convention center at around 4:45 pm. It was packed! We queued up at gate 2. The doors were supposed to be opened at 5 pm, but they delayed it until 5:30 pm. I nearly had a blackout. Just I was about to faint, the doors were opened. Praise the Lord! Jia Yein and Hui En shielded me as we pushed ourselves into the hall. I think Hui En said something like, “Pregnant woman coming through”, “Protect the baby”. I find it amusing. Hehehe!

Yoke Kheng managed to reserve a seat for me. Our seats were facing the center of the stage, in the middle of the hall. Cool! We couldn’t sit together, and so were scattered. Anyway, I was standing half of the time. I wished I could jump. The crowd really went wild when the music started at around 6 pm.

Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin and Charlie Hall were awesome! The songs they sang included Your Grace is Enough, Mighty to Save, Amazing Grace and How Great is Our God. They also introduced some new songs. All the songs were fantastic. Louie shared a testimony through a journal. He is a great speaker, truly inspiring.

The event was supposedly for youth age between 19 to 25. Eh…we (YK, Kevin, Kenny, Elder Chris and I) felt young. Hahaha! Well, we were there as ministry leaders. After the event, I counted the number of KBU Christian Fellowship students who went – 11 of them! It could be more. The message touched the heart of one of the pre-believers. Praise the Lord!

It ended before 10 pm. Those from KBU had dinner cum supper at McDonald’s. I sent some of them back, and eventually arrived home at around 12:30 am.

What a day! GOD is indeed my STRENGTH!

How the Lord has blessed KBU CF

This is a personal testimony of how the Lord has blessed KBU Christian Fellowship…

The KBU Christian Fellowship (CF) was initiated in 1995 by a group of students in the BEng (Hons) Electrical and Engineering programme. The first advisor was a lecturer from the School of Design.

At its peak, the CF grew to 30 – 40 members. We had 2 groups – English and Chinese. So, there were 2 advisors. I was involved in the English group. We have organized quite a number of activities – 2 camps, various outings, forums, workshops and evangelistic events.

I have witnessed 3 pre-believers (perhaps more) coming to the Lord through the CF, and many lives who were touched by the CF. The CF has indeed bear fruits, and these fruits are everlasting because they now have eternal life.

The numbers in the CF started to drop in 2000. The lecturers still remain faithful. At one point, there were only lecturers but we still met to pray and share. Occasionally, 1 or 2 students joined us. Over the years, the student numbers fluctuated from 2 to 12.

If I just focus on the number, it is so easy for me to give up this work. I believed that this CF belongs to God. He is the one who has started the CF and what He has started He will finish it. God will finish what He has started.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6

I am confident that He will personally complete every good work that He has begun in the CF. I asked God to help me to remain steadfast in that confidence.

Recently, the thought of giving up popped back. I was really encouraged by the sharing from the KDU CF members. I was once again reminded to remain faithful. We are not at KBU by accident or by chance but God Himself has placed us here. We are here for a purpose. Each one of us has unique purpose. Moreover, this is a very exciting time indeed because we have people from more than 30 different countries in one place! We should not miss the opportunity to be a blessing unto them.

When I was in University, I was actively involved in the Overseas Christian Fellowship. What I have learned in the OCF and the friendships that I have built have enriched my live tremendously. We will always be busy. I am also busy with my work but I know that I need to make time for God, for His people. It’s important that we are not distracted by our busyness.

Last Friday (28 March 2008), 4 of us from KBU attended the evangelistic event at KDU. There were about 50 – 60 people. There were students from UITM, IMU and ITP as well. The performance was really cool. Most importantly, souls were saved on that day. Praise the Lord!

Some of us, including myself can’t help but compare. No, we should not compare. God has a different plan for us. We don’t have to be big to make a difference. All great things have small beginnings. Jesus started with 12 disciples, and they have made a great impact to the whole world. Think about the mustard seed. It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. (Mark 4:31). Again, in Luke 19:13, “It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air perched in its branches." The KBU CF may have a small beginning, but it can still make a big difference.

God spoke to me again on Friday night through a sister in my church during the Prayer and Praise. This sister doesn’t know not all what I was going through with the KBU CF. God said this through her, “No matter how small the things you do, it means a lot to God.” Wow! God has seen my faithfulness, and what I am doing is significant to Him.

I want to encourage all the believers in the College not to give up the KBU CF. It belongs to God. It is part of His Kingdom. Don’t look at the numbers. Don’t compare. Don’t complain. Just remain faithful.

About 2 years ago, someone gave this vision to the KBU CF. “The members are like candles but God desires us to be like a torch, just like the Olympic torch – big and strong”. We may feel small like a tiny candle but God doesn’t want us to feel this way. He wants us to think big, be big. If we think little, then we will accomplish little. We are not the only CF around here. We are part of a bigger family.

I have said to some of the students and lecturers before that even if there is only one student and I, I will still carry on, for the Lord has said that, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20.

God has blessed the CF by bringing pre-believers to Him. God has blessed the un-churched believers to be part of a community. These are the fruits of the KBU CF. These are the work of the Holy Spirit. I believed that God will do more amazing things.

God’s work will move on…

Praise the Lord!

Chloe's 19th Birthday

Chloe is a student in the Foundation in Art and Design. She attends the KBU Christian Fellowship. Last Wednesday, 18 April 2007, we celebrated her 19th birthday together with her classmates.

Did you notice how the cake turned out after the candles were blown? One of her classmates has actually pushed her face onto the cake. Poor Chloe! Her face was covered with blueberry and cream. I didn't snap any photo of that incident because I didn't want to embarass her. She managed to get herself cleaned up quite fast. In the end, we still enjoyed the cake - none was wasted.

This is her last teenage year - she will be 20 next year. May God continue to shower her with much blessings and guide her in all ways.
